Ideal for customers traveling to locations with unreliable connectivity

After launching an enterprise option earlier this year, Starlink has diversified its portfolio by offering a service suited for those who move and camp around. Allegedly, Starlink for RVs uses the same hardware as the standard offering.

However, the one automatically gets access wherever Starlink offers service. SpaceX noted that service quality may differ depending on whether you're in a coverage area marked "Available" (higher speeds and lower latency) or "Wai list" (slower speeds and higher latency during peak usage hours). The company support page explains,

Network resources are always de-prioritized for Starlink for RVs users compared to other Starlink services, resulting in degraded service and slower speeds in congested areas and during peak hours.

This means that download speeds through Starlink RV range from 5 Mbps to 100 Mbps in high usage waitlist zones, a massive downgrade from the usual 50 Mbps to 250 Mbps download speeds.

The RV plan includes a portable dish that promises to provide internet connectivity anywhere. The company also clarifies that the device is intended for use while users stay put at parking spots, camping grounds, and RV parks during their trip.

Starlink for RVs seems similar to basic Starlink + Portability but with notable differences. Applicants for Starlink for RVs do not have to submit a "home" address, and it is available immediately without a waitlist.

Also, the RV plan is the only one that got an option to pause and unpause service. Customers will be billed in one-month increments, allowing them to customize their service to their individual travel needs.

Starlink for RVs - USD 135/month (or PHP 6.5K/month)

There's no announcement yet if the Starlink RV plan will also be offered in the Philippines, but the website shows the t the service will cover the country in the last quarter of 2022. Stay tuned for updates.
