In March 2022, Nothing's CEO and Co-Founder teased its plan to launch the Nothing Phone (1) this year. The focus of the new device is on minimalism and an alternative ecosystem to those from the larger tech companies such as Samsung and Apple.
To let users have a feel of the Minimalism that Nothing aims to achieve, the brand released Nothing Launcher Beta on the Google Play Store. It was initially limited only to select devices like the Samsung Galaxy S21 and S22 series and the Google Pixel 5 and Pixel 6.
Fast forward to May 9, 2022, a new update for the Nothing Launcher (Beta) was made available. This new update makes the launcher available for Android phones that are running on Android 11 or higher.

There is a 'How to Set Up" page that users can study for installing the launcher. The new update also makes changing the launcher's wallpaper easier while offering a DropBox link where users can download bonus wallpapers and sounds. These can be accessed through the Nothing Launcher's settings.
