More than 2 million devices enjoyed Globe's speedy 5G network!

According to the company, this is ahead of its target which shows that many of its customers are already enjoying the benefits of this new connectivity technology like higher speed, lower latency, and more reliable data service.

Globe also shared that at least 96 percent of the National Capital Region (NCR) and 85 percent of key cities in Visayas and Mindanao already have Globe 5G outdoor coverage.

We anticipate higher 5G device penetration among our customers this year with the continuous expansion of 5G coverage in the country and the release of more affordable handsets, said Ernest Cu, Globe President and CEO

Via its postpaid plans, the company has also made entry-level and mid-range 5G models available allowing more people to enjoy 5G's benefits. Globe also highlighted that phones may also be bought separately from the Globe stores at discounted prices when bundled with a SIM-only plan.

The telco giant also partnered and is continuing to partner with different 5G-ready telco players globally for its wide 5G roaming coverage internationally. This will allow customers traveling abroad can still have a convenient high-speed data roaming experience.

Moreover, Ookla revealed that its 5G speed is now three times faster than mobile WiFi. Globe logged a 5G median download speed of 121.29 Mbps versus the 42.95 Mbps booked by all fixed providers in the Philippines for the first quarter of the year.

Globe is also the winner of Opensignal's 5G Video Experience Award with 71.2 points based on data collected from Jan. 1 to March 31 this year.

But the company claimed that they are not stopping there. For this year, a large portion of its PHP 89 billion capex this year will be used to roll out more 5G sites and in-building solutions, upgrade more cell towers to 4G LTE, add more 4G cell sites, and lay down more fiber to the home lines.
