Philippines tops in 5G vs 4G experience

Opensignal says that the Philippines has seen the greatest improvement when they compared the 5G and 4G experiences. The country has an average 5G download speeds seen by the users were 8.9 times faster than the average 4G speeds.

When it came to mobile video streaming, Filipino users had a 33 percent higher Video Experience score when using 5G versus 4G. Indonesia ranked second in terms of uplift in Video Experience, with a 29 percent higher score.

Meanwhile, the 10 countries included in the report have also seen a huge jump in average download speeds with 5G. Users in Thailand experienced 7.5 times faster speeds, while users in Taiwan experienced 7.2 times faster speeds. 

Even in developed markets with superb existing 4G networks, users experienced significant speed upgrades with 5G. As an example, South Korea witnessed 6.3 times faster speeds, Singaporeans with 4 times faster, and Japanese users 3.4 times faster.

As operators broaden the scope of their 5G offerings, 5G continues to flourish as a technology. Increasing geographic reach, installing 5G on new spectrum bands that enhance speed and capacity for mid or higher frequency, or improving in-building signal propagation and rural reach by using lower frequency bands for 5G.
