Android gets feature to delete last 15 minutes of search history

Do you usually search for things you end up regretting? Besides the obvious, searching for something regrettable might cause the algorithm to think that you’re really into something you’re not, causing a torrent of weird ads. To help solve that problem, Android is getting a feature that allows users to erase only the last 15 minutes of their search history.

It’s not an entirely new feature though. Google initially launched the feature last year during Google I/O 2021 for their iOS apps. As it says on the box, users can obliterate the last 15 minutes of their search history with just a simple press of a button. At the time, however, Google promised an Android rollout for late last year — which obviously hasn’t happened.

Now, as spotted by XDA Developers (via The Verge), Android users are slowly getting the feature for themselves. Google is rolling the feature out over the next few weeks. Further, the developers are also figuring out how to ship it out to more systems.

Though it might take a while, Google already offers other options to eliminate portions of your search history. Besides the new 15-minute option, users can also choose to remove their histories from 3, 18, and 36 months in the past.
