Facebook Reels rolls out worldwide

Instagram Reels and TikTok have a new competitor. Once again, Facebook is adding a feature that its contemporaries already have. This time, as you might have guessed, it’s Instagram Reels. After an initial testing period, Facebook is expanding availability for Facebook Reels to a plethora of countries.

Initially launched late last year, Facebook Reels allowed users and creators to make their own videos on the platform. Besides making videos, the feature also allows creators to tailor their audience and eventually monetize their creations with enough reach.

With the update, Facebook Reels will also get more editing tools, like Remix, to compete with other video creation platforms like TikTok. Reels will also expand to the platform’s Stories and Feed. A Suggested Reels section will also roll out in the coming weeks.

Though a full list isn’t available, Facebook Reels will expand to 150 more countries. However, sources have confirmed that the Philippines is included in the new list. The feature will be available for both Android and iOS apps.

While the new feature holds a lot of promise especially for creators, Meta has other issues. As of late, the company has suffered a massive blow in market valuation owing to ongoing privacy issues and the metaverse’s slow start.
