Lazada issues a statement about SMS phishing scams |
Lazada versus Phishing Text Scams
Lazada stated that it came to its knowledge that opportunistic individuals use SMS messages for scam attempts. These attempts pass themselves as official Lazada communication or impersonate Lazada personnel. These SMS encourage customers to participate in fake promotions, raffles or offer job opportunities.
Lazada wants to remind the public that Lazada will NEVER send messages via text/SMS, Instant Messaging, and social media apps. The company will also never ask for your personal or Lazada account details as well such as your username and password.
To avoid being a victim, only transact with Lazada via its marketplace sellers, Lazada app, website, and official channels. Lazada prioritizes its users' security. The company wants to assure the public that it is working with telecommunications partners and law enforcement agencies to counteract these scam attempts.
