IKEA's online store in PH is now up and running

Several Filipinos love to shop home storage, workspace, and kids' items

On top of that, their e-commerce operations in this shop are available 24/7. According to the Swedish furniture maker, they initiated a test run last September to see how capable the online store is. Ahead of its official roll-out, they tested it by catering to orders in a limited capacity. IKEA Pasay City store manager Georg Platzer said,

After several weeks of learning from our test run, we are glad that we are now accessible to more Filipinos. We are very excited to be part of the lives of the many people in the Philippines and share in their dreams of a better life at home.

IKEA noted that the most sought-off items are those under the categories home storage and workspace. Children's items were also popular during the trial period. This may be attributed to the fact that many Filipinos were stuck at home so they had the time to organize their things and invest in their remote work area.

The first step in the order process is to create an IKEA website account.  Note that this is not the same as the Family membership information. Then proceed to shop, add to cart, then check out with easy payment options of major credit card, GCash, and installments via BDO.

You can select from three delivery options of truck (limited to Metro Manila), parcel (not more than 30 kilos and 1.8 meters in height, and can be delivered to greater Manila such as Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, parts of Quezon up to Lucena, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Bataan, and Subic), and click and collect. IKEA offers three delivery options: truck, parcel, and click and collect in designated collection points.

A lot of online customers were excited to purchase IKEA products causing its website to crash during the opening of the sign-up for its loyalty club.

Meanwhile, the Swedish furniture maker said that the IKEA in Pasay City is anticipated to open this quarter. The establishment has five floors and will house its retail operations, warehouse, restaurant as well as a call center for the e-commerce part of the business among others.

It was first announced in 2018 and was supposed to open in 2020. However, IKEA decided to move the opening to 2021 due to construction delays and the COVID-19 pandemic.
