OPPO has more improvements for the under-screen camera

It’s been a while since the first under-screen camera. At the time, the technology launched as another way to hide the then-controversial camera notch. As with most new technology, the under-screen camera still had its flaws. For one, the surface area had some slight imperfections that can show up with enough scrutiny. To take the technology to the next step, OPPO is launching a new generation of the technology.

Announced today, OPPO’s new under-screen camera blends a good balance between display and camera quality. To solve the aforementioned display quality issue, the new screen shrinks the size of each pixel but without reducing the number of pixels. The screen will still display 400ppi even above the under-screen camera.

Going outside of the usual issues, the new screen will improve color accuracy and brightness across the board. Naturally, a prototype would show the improvements working in real life. However, given the technical improvements described in launch, the screen does sound impressive.

Unfortunately, OPPO has not revealed when the technology is coming to an actual phone. However, the company does promise that it is continuously working on better and better technology to improve its growing list of features.

Besides OPPO, other smartphone makers have developed their own takes on the camera including Xiaomi, vivo, and Samsung.
