Garmin expands solar-powered watch lineup with tactix Delta – Solar Edition

Solar power is here! No, not Lorde’s latest album. Garmin expanded its solar charging technology to its Solar range of smartwatches in the Philippines.

Joining the lineup is the new tactix Delta — Solar Edition, the fourth generation of the tactix family developed on the fēnix series platform. It uses solar charging to extend its battery life. Interestingly, it can reach up to 21 days indoors. And up to 24 days with enough solar exposure.

Military-like design

The tactix Delta — Solar Edition is designed like a rugged smartwatch. But it still gives a sophisticated oomph.

On the front, it features an Always-On 1.4-inch display and a scratch-resistant sapphire lens. It also wears a black DLC-coated steel bezel and a black PVD-coated steel rear cover.

Moreover, it sports an all-new military-inspired black tactical nylon QuickFit band. It also has reinforced stitching and exposed black metal hardware.

It’s built to military standards (MIL-STD-810) and includes mission-ready features such as night vision capability that can be read by night-vision goggles, stealth mode that disables location sharing, and wireless connectivity. And it has a kill switch that instantly wipes all user memory.

Other features to enjoy

Like any smartwatch, the tactix Delta – Solar Edition comes with Advanced Sleep Monitoring, Pulse Ox2, and even Body Battery which optimizes body energy reserves through its health metrics and respiration data. There’s a dedicated widget that lets you preview your stress score, sleep insights, and oxygen levels.

The smartwatch is also equipped with topographic maps for outdoor adventures. And maps for over 2,000 ski resorts worldwide and over 41,000 golf courses. The same smart features from the fēnix 6 series are also present. As well as tactical features such as mapping, music, and advanced training.
